Current Studies

Block Laboratory

The primary goal is to understand the consequences of early general anesthesia in humans on brain structure, brain function, and cognition later during childhood.

Hadlandsmyth Lab

The primary goal of this research is to improve the lives of persons living with chronic pain.

Kaczka Laboratory

Research interests focus on quantifying mechanical heterogeneity in diseases of the respiratory system, such as asthma, COPD, and acute lung injury.

Kitamoto Laboratory

The primary goal is to identify critical modifiers of neurological disorders and reveal how they impact penetrance and expressivity of disease phenotypes.

OBAL Laboratory

The Obal Laboratory focuses on the pharmacogenetics of anesthetics and other perioperative drugs using human induced pluripotent stem cell-derived cardiovascular and neuronal cells and tissues. Our goal is to advance personalized medicine by understanding individual patient responses to perioperative stress and pharmacology, ultimately improving outcomes and tailored treatments.
