The University of Iowa Health Care’s Anesthesiology Critical Care Medicine fellowships are ACGME-accredited programs based in the Surgical Neurosciences and Cardiovascular ICUs. The programs accept applicants from anesthesiology and emergency medicine backgrounds, with anesthesiology trainees completing a one-year ACGME-accredited fellowship and emergency medicine trainees completing a two-year pathway, with the first year ACGME-accredited.
Rotations emphasize an evidence-based, multidisciplinary, team-based approach to critically ill patients.
Fellows train at the only tertiary-care academic institution in the state of Iowa, which offers broad and comprehensive exposure to all aspects of critical care medicine. These experiences prepare fellows to enter the practice of critical care medicine and succeed in any career path.
