Testimonials
Don’t just take our word for it—see what our past fellows have to say about their experience in the APP Critical Care Fellowship. From hands-on clinical training to mentorship that shaped their careers, these testimonials offer a firsthand look at how the program prepares advanced practice providers to thrive in the ICU and beyond.
I accepted a fellowship position because I was interested in the opportunity to further my knowledge base outside of my degree to feel more comfortable independently managing patients as a new nurse practitioner. My background prior to starting the fellowship had been in emergency medicine so I was grateful to the fellowship because it helped me gain exposure to services in the hospital that I might not have otherwise been able to round with and learn from during my clinical experiences.
Completing the critical care fellowship at the University of Iowa was one of the best career decisions I made. I knew I wanted to work in critical care when I finished PA school -- this program gave me the tools to be successful. The program gave me the confidence to manage critically ill patients and provided me with the knowledge and skills to be an asset to my patients. Being at such a large academic center also gave me exposure to a wide array of different illnesses ranging from things very common to things that are extremely rare.
